Where we've been, where we are, and where we are going

It has been almost a month since my last post.  We were on vacation in the mountains enjoying cool crisp air...NOT!

Where we've been

*School started for Nicholas.  Third grade is hard and he doesn't like that PE is in the morning.  Nine year old problems are tough.  On the upside he likes his teacher, the pep rallies and snacks.

*Dixie (the dog) and I both had surgery...no more babies in our house.  I kind of hate to say this but I enjoyed a few days of sleeping later than 4:30 a.m.  We a both fine and back at work.  Me at the store and Dixie chewing stuff she isn't supposed to!

*We had carpenters here for about 3 weeks building the kitchen.  It is not complete but getting close.  It was a mess.  They had to sheet rock the ceiling and to prepare for that they put plastic up to try and keep some of the dust contained.  The paper fell and set the alarm off twice in one night...fun times!

Where we are

*The kitchen is just about complete. We have a few finishing details and appliances to put in place.  Ken is just about finished with the lights and we have bar stools at the counter.  It's getting close!

*Almost all of the floors are done.  We (by we I mean someone other than me) have one section left to remove the old floors.  My hope is that the original wood floors are in good shape.

*We moved the cash register which is really throwing people off but I think it will work well when the kitchen is up and running.

Where we are going

*We are finalizing a menu and will share that as soon as we are done.  We plan to serve breakfast and lunch.

*We will have a nice selection of gift items here in a few weeks.  Plenty of Alabama and Auburn stuff, some great handmade beanies (more on that coming soon!) and I have a few other things I'm working on.  We will be your one stop shop....gas, goodies, and gifts!

*We  plan to start cooking in October if everything goes according to plan.   We hope the weather will cooperate and it will cool off because I don't want a hot kitchen and I don't want to put in a new air conditioner right now.  Hint hint Mother Nature.

Thanks for following along!
