Ken and I are not the only shop owners in the family. Nicholas has claimed one of the buildings as his workshop. He is a self proclaimed "Master Carpenter." He would like to build boats because there is a big demand for those in Artion...not. We have convinced him to start small with his carpentry business by trying to explain that the materials to build boats could be quite costly. After much thought and discussion he has decided to start building carpenter bee traps. Folks if you have carpenter bee problems you know how helpful these traps can be!
He got his first order for two traps from Mr. Bill at the bank! Followed by orders from Aunt Charlotte and Mimi. Coincidently, shortly after he asked Mimi for a business loan.
Bless his little heart. He has worked so hard to get his shop all set up. He has hired his first employee...Mimi. She has her own office and he is building her a desk so she can bring her computer. She also has her own bathroom. This is a first class operation. Did I mention that the building currently has no electricity and no windows that open? That building is HOT!! I'm not sure Mimi is that excited about this new job.
While we are amused at his logic sometimes, we are quite proud of our little entrepreneur. As he has told me on several occasions, "Mom, you have to have a goal." That's pretty good advice from a nine year old.
The lesson learned from my boy is to dream big. Set your sights high and work hard. Now who needs a bee trap?
